Be Longevity Minded

Live longer. Feel healthier. Find fulfillment.

Hey, I’m Jack Dixon from Toronto, Canada. I’m pumped you’re here.

I started Longevity Minded in December 2021 with three goals in mind:

  • Live longer: How can you give yourself the best shot at a long life?

  • Feel healthier: How can you maintain the highest quality of life — physically, mentally, and emotionally — for as long as possible?

  • Find fulfillment: How can you lead a life of purpose, presence, joy, and contentment?

To me, longevity isn’t about biohacking, radical diets, or crossing our fingers and toes that some magical DNA-altering technology unlocks immortality.

No. No. No. That stuff makes me nauseous.

To be Longevity Minded is to build your days around sustainable practices that enrich your life and enhance your physical, mental, and emotional health

I’m not a scientist or doctor and I don’t spend my weekends poring over the latest studies or hanging out with PhDs (besides my sister). I graduated with a business degree and earned a living as a Senior Business Analyst before quitting my full-time job in August 2023 to seek more purposeful work.

I’m a practitioner with an appetite to discover how to live the longest, healthiest, and most purpose-driven life possible and a passion for sharing those ideas with you.

Should you listen to me?

You should apply the same skepticism to my writing that you do to anything you read or hear on the Internet. But to show you that I’m a credible source, I want to offer proof that I practice what I preach.

By the words…

Last summer I quit my stable, secure, and well-paying job because I didn’t find purpose or fulfillment in it and I knew I would regret not seeking the work that lights me up.

I ask my doctor for regular bloodwork to monitor my lipid levels and other metabolic health markers. Once I reach age 40, I’ll start to screen for cancers regularly. I eat to strategically support my long-term health while still making food enjoyable.

I exercise eight times per week, journal and take cold showers every day, sleep no less than seven and a half hours per night, prioritize my family and friends, and have been sober since I graduated from university in 2021.

I’m far from perfect but I eat my own cooking.

If I haven’t tried it or don’t believe it, you won’t read it here. And if I’m unsure about something, I’ll state it. This is my information sanctuary as much as it is yours. I wouldn’t misinform myself and I don’t plan on misinforming you.

By the numbers…

Some numbers to quantify my credibility:

  • Weight: 185-190 lbs

  • Height: 6 foot 1 inch

  • Total body fat: 11-13%

  • Android (trunk/waist) body fat: 8-9%

  • Resting Heart Rate: 45-50 bpm

  • Blood pressure: sub 130/70 (aiming for systolic of sub 120)

  • Bone Mineral Density: 100th percentile for my age (1.511 g/cm2)

  • Longest water-only fast: 90 hours

  • Longest run: 25.05 km / 2:05:55 time / 5’02” per km pace (July 29, 2023)

On Sundays at 8 a.m. ET, I’ll send you a newsletter called 6-Second Sunday. In it, I share six ideas I’m applying you can skim in six seconds before deciding if you want to spend less than six minutes reading the entire post. As a free subscriber, you can read 20-30% of these posts. To unlock the full post, you’ll have to upgrade to a paid subscription. More on that below.

Every three months, I’ll send you an e-book that does a deep dive into one topic. Past e-books have covered breathwork, flexibility, fitness testing, and even my ultra-actionable Outlive book notes. E-books are also only available to paying subscribers.
