Thank you for this straightforward summary of Zone 2. I finally got why it’s important in a way that I didn’t get from other prominent advocates—metabolic flexibility to burn fat sooner and more effectively. And it’s not what my Fitbit says; my fast walks will have to become slow runs if I want these Zone 2 goodies.

Thanks for reading and subscribing Susan! I'm glad to have you here. Absolutely, for most individuals walking won't be intense enough to get into a Zone 2 state. Best of luck as you up the intensity - have fun with it!

I also have a FitBit. I'm not entirely sure how they calculate those "Zone Minutes" but I think you fill them up quicker the higher your heart rate. I honestly don't put too much weight on them... but if the bar is full I know I did something good for my body that day!
