Rituals and routines, fostering strong traits, and unleashing your hips
Supercharged Sundays #3
Welcome to Supercharged Sundays, a super short weekly newsletter sharing three hyperpractical health, fitness, and wellness practices for your week ahead.
Here are this week’s experiments. Feel free to adopt what works for you and discard the rest.
Rituals and Routines
What you do on your bad days matters more than what you do on your good days.
Most mornings, I don’t feel like working out.
But I never fail to get in my run or lift. Despite not wanting to lace up my shoes or warm into my kettlebell routine, I do it anyway.
I’ve long been a proponent of discipline, espousing the importance of being disciplined and how motivation and inspiration are fleeting and unreliable.
But I’m starting to realize that discipline is not so different from motivation.
My consistency isn’t because I have the hardened mind of the disciple of discipline, Jocko Willink, but because I have forged rituals and routines that I slip into every morning without giving it a second of thought.
Rituals + Routines > Discipline + Motivation
